Carry Me
A Hundred Years of Handbags
"An exciting journey through history via handbags from the last century"
- Östergötlands museum in Linköping.
Shown here are unique original bags that were milestones in handbag fashion history, some with connections to icons such as Grace Kelly, Jaqueline Kennedy Onassis and Lady Diana.
A selection of Susan Szatmáry bags is currently displayed at Östergötland's museum in connection with the exhibition "Carry Me – 100 years of handbags".
Susan had worked for fashion houses such as Alexander McQueen and Celine before fulfilling her dream to start her own company. She got quickly noticed by Vogue and won many prestigious Design awards in Sweden and Scandinavia.
Parallel to Carry Me – 100 years of handbags, a personal and inspiring story is depicted of how a strong interest in fashion, design and creation led to an own bag brand worn by royalty. In the exhibition Susan Szatmáry – a design journey, visitors can follow Susan's path from Skäggetorp in Linköping to the major fashion houses in Europe.
We are given examples of sketches and prototypes from the beginning of the career until today. Susan Szatmáry's journey and creations both impress and inspire, and she was recently named entrepreneur of the year in Linköping.
"Susan Szatmáry – A design journey" will be shown in Cnattingiusalen 17/2 – 18/8 2024.
