ABOUT SUSAN
Susan is a Swedish accessories' designer and consultant for luxury brands. She was born in Baghdad and raised in Sweden, then finished her design & art studies in Italy. She first worked as a scenographer before moving into the fashion industry. Her interest in leather goods started when she began experimenting with natural leather in the same studio that her mother used to do her ceramics. She made her first bags recycling old leather jackets she bought in vintage stores, using her sewing machine. Her interest and love for art and history shaped her path in life as well as her work and her journeys.
She got her first professional apprenticeship in Alexander McQueen's atelier in London, working on Couture shoes, bags and jewelry. Moving to Paris, she worked for Céline, Elie SAAB and Paco Rabanne, becoming expert handbags and shoes' designer. Today she collaborates with niche and established fashion brands, while building a brand under her name.
Susan was elected "Future Talent" in 2019 by Nordiska Kompaniet in Stockholm and "Accessories Designer of the year" in 2020 by Elle Sweden. In 2020, she won the prestigious Prize "Guldknappen Accessoar" (Gold Button Accessories) with Damersnas Värld.
